Probably one of the first and most ancient fabric still in use. The legend goes that Saint Francis and his brothers were among the first to use it, given the vicinity of the Casentino region to Assisi. Towards the end of the 19th century the Casentino cloth takes the shape as we know it now with the invention of a special machinery that pulls the surface and creates those little curls that made it recognizable worldwide. It's quite amazing to think that the same machineries built between 1865 and 1871 are still in use today!
